The Mundial mascots are a tradition dating back to the World Cup in England in 1966. It may seem that he has been with us for a long time, but let us remember that the first mundial took place already in 1930. So for a long time football struggles took place without such additional attractions. However, as it has already started, it is a good thing. Since 1966, every subsequent mundial has had its own official mascot. It is no different in the case of this year’s World Championships in Russia. The election was influenced by the fans themselves, who took part in the vote.
Zabivaka was elected the official mascot of the 2018 Mundial already two years ago. So why are we only writing about this now? There are at least two reasons for this. Firstly, some people may have forgotten about it. After all, the mascot was chosen in 2016 and the championships are taking place right now. Secondly, even football fans could have escaped the fact that they had chosen an official mascot. I learned about it myself relatively recently. After all, it’s just a small addition to the whole soccer celebration, but you have to bear in mind that some may be interesting.
What is a mysterious Zabivak? It’s nothing more than a very nice wolf. What does the wolf have to do with Russia? We only have one quick association. Of course, we are talking about the cult fairy tale “Wolf and Hare”. However, there was a much less pleasant animal in it.
Interestingly about the Football World Cup, including those in Russia
Stop counting down for a while until the first whistle in the US – Senegal match and get acquainted with our chosen interesting facts about the football world championships.
Zabivaka won with a significant advantage. The mascot won 53 percent of all votes. The second place went to the tiger (27 per cent) and the lowest step was taken by the cat. Even the Internet king could not defeat the wolf. By the way, does Russia somehow associate you with a tiger or a cat? We look forward to hearing from you in the comments section.
The choice of the animal that will be the official mascot of the World Cup Russia 2018 is one thing. It still needed to be called. The fans had no influence on this anymore. The name of the toy, which was designed by a student from Tomsk, is the result of a combination of two Russian words. “The “Zabit” can be translated as “score a goal”, and the “killer” is an extremely harsh term.
